COVID-19 Policy

Durham, Tyne & Wear, and Northumberland based MUBYLEIGH - Hair & Makeup Artist applies mascara to blonde bride at her bridal trial before wedding.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Infection Prevention & Control Policy

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Infection Prevention & Control Policy

During the time that my business has been ‘in lockdown’, I have completed a number of courses to increase my knowledge on the virus and the means of prevention. Included in these is the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Infection Prevention and Control course, which is accredited by the Guild of Professional Beauty Therapists Ltd, the UK trade body for our industry. Following the relevant guidance, I have made a number of changes that I would like to make you aware of. These changes will help to ensure you are as safe as possible while in my care.

STUDIO APPOINTMENTS

I have increased the frequency of cleaning in my home and specifically my home studio, including making sure that common surfaces, seating, toilet door handles, etc. are cleaned and disinfected between each client. All tools and equipment are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected or sterilised. Wherever possible I will continue to utilise environmentally friendly, single-use items that can be disposed of safely in order to protect you from cross infection.

I fully understand the importance of hand hygiene and will ensure that I wash my hands in accordance with NHS recommendations before the start of your treatment, as well as using hand sanitiser throughout. As per the current government guidelines, I will be wearing a disposable mask throughout all hair and makeup treatments and would ask that all those entering my home do the same, until it becomes necessary to remove for treatment.

If I feel ill or experience symptoms of COVlD-19, I will self-isolate immediately. This may mean that I have to postpone your appointment at short notice. I appreciate that this may be inconvenient but it is done entirely for your own safetyMy aim is to ensure that your time in my studio is as safe, comfortable and enjoyable as possible and I am confident that I can continue to operate safely.

BEFORE APPOINTMENT

Prior to your appointment at my home studio, I will ask you to complete a pre-screening COVID-19 questionnaire. If you or any of the people you live with feel unwell or display any symptoms of COVlD-19 – please advise me as soon as possible and DO NOT ATTEND YOUR APPOINTMENT.

If I have permitted a guest to attend your trial with you, they will be also be required to complete a questionnaire. For children under the age of 18, a parent/guardian will be required to complete the questionnaire on their behalf.

ON ARRIVAL

For your safety and to maintain social distancing, ask that you attend your appointment alone (unless otherwise agreed) and as close to your appointment time as possible. Unless arranged previously, please do not turn up early for appointments as this may mean that you come into contact with other clients/individuals who are just leaving.

When you arrive at my home, I will ask that you remove your shoes before we head upstairs to my studio. Feel free to bring a pair of fluffy socks or slippers to change into! If you’d prefer not to remove your shoes, you are more than welcome to wear disposable plastic overshoes (you will need to provide your own). Please arrive wearing a mask. I will be wearing my mask when you arrive and will continue to do so throughout your visit.

When you arrive, you will have access to soap and hot water to wash your hands with, as well as hand sanitiser in both the bathroom and the studio. I am happy for you to use our bathroom and can assure you that the facilities are thoroughly cleaned.

Due to industry advice, I will not be offering drinks upon arrival. If at any point you require a drink of water, please do not hesitate to ask.

DURING TREATMENT

I will wash my hands prior to commencing treatment, and will use sanitiser throughout.

Where possible, I will ask that you wear your mask for the majority of the treatmentuntil I require direct access to that area of your face.

ONCE FINISHED

In order to avoid the handling of cash, I ask that you pay for your treatment via bank transfer ahead of your appointment. At the very latest, the payment would need to be transferred before you leave my home studio. If you are unsure of my bank details or the amount payable, please do not hesitate to ask.

Following your appointment, if you believe that you may have the virus, or you become aware that you may have been exposed before the appointment took place (through any form of contact or otherwise), you must inform me immediately regardless of whether you have developed symptoms. I will then be able to notify anyone with whom I have been in contact following our appointment. In the event that I become unwell or aware that I may have been exposed through contact with another individual, I will also make you aware immediately.

All of these procedures have been implemented for your safety and my own. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. I will continue to take advice from the Government, the NHS, and relevant industry bodies regarding safe practice and will amend this document as necessary. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. I look forward to seeing you soon!

ON YOUR WEDDING DAY

It is my aim to ensure that your wedding ‘morning’ runs as smoothly and as safely as possible. By providing these details beforehand and relaying my expectations to you, I hope to reserve the day for pure excitement and joy. I’m confident that by taking the necessary precautions, we can ensure that the whole experience is safe, comfortable and enjoyable for everyone.

ON THE DAY

If you, or any of your bridal party, or any of the people within your households feel unwell or display any symptoms of COVlD-19 – please advise me as soon as possible. I will be unable to carry out services on any individual affected or within their vicinity, or on anyone with whom they have been in contact.

If a situation such as but not limited to the following should arise, I may be unable to provide the agreed wedding day services:

– the Bride or any member of the bridal party finds they have or may have Coronavirus in the 14 days prior to the services taking place
– the Bride or any member of the bridal party has had contact with someone who has or may have Coronavirus
– the Bride or any member of the bridal party is or has been advised to be shielding
– the Bride or any member of the bridal party has been untruthful or has not returned their Covid-19 pre-screening questionnaire
– the Bride or any member of the bridal party has Coronavirus symptoms on the day of the booking
– the Bride or any member of the bridal party have recently returned from a country not included in the ‘travel corridor’ list and therefore expected to be in self-isolation

If any of these situations arise and I am made aware in advance of the wedding day, I will liaise with the Bride directly in order to discuss the matter and attempt to find a workable solution to keep everyone safe. If we are unable to reach an agreement, I may not be able to continue with any or all of the agreed services and may be unable to issue a refund.

If any of these situations arise and I am made aware on the day of the wedding, I will not be able to continue with the booking and no refund shall be made. I will not attend the booking or will immediately leave the venue in order that I am not placed at continued risk. I trust that all of my Brides and their bridal parties understand the need for absolute honesty in these circumstances. It is vital that I prioritise my health and the need to protect each and every one of my clients.

If I experience symptoms of COVlD-19, I will self-isolate immediately. In the event that I have to self-isolate and am unable to attend your booking, I will do everything I can to provide a suitable replacement and reserve the right to do so as stated in my terms and conditions. I appreciate that this may be inconvenient but it is done entirely for your own safety and that of your bridal party and guests.

SAFE SPACE

In order to maintain a safe working environment for myself and my clients on your wedding day, I will need to be set up in a room with good ventilation. I will require access to an electrical socket (ideally with at least two plugs), and will require a table/large windowsill/raised space to safely place my equipment. I will bring my own client chair unless I advise you otherwise.

The room must allow for social distancing to be practiced between all stylists and clients. Where it is not possible to maintain 2 metre social distancing, only the stylist/s and the client/s receiving the service at that time should be in the room. In this case, all other clients must be outside of the room until it is time for their service to take place.

Myself and any stylist accompanying me will wear disposable masks throughout all hair and makeup services. If you have booked a separate hair stylist/makeup artist as well as myself, I will need to be notified and provided with their contact details so that I can ensure they are made aware of my policy and expectations.

BETWEEN 'CLIENTS'

Myself and any stylist accompanying me will ensure that we wash our hands in accordance with NHS recommendations before the start of any treatment and between each client, as well as using hand sanitiser throughout. All clients must wash their hands and apply hand sanitiser prior to receiving services.

Separate makeup and hair brushes will be used for each client. Wherever possible I will continue to use single-use items that can be disposed of safely in order to protect you from cross infection.

AFTER THE WEDDING

Following your wedding day, if you or any member of your bridal party believe that you may have the virus, or you become aware that you may have been exposed before the wedding took place (through any form of contact or otherwise), you must inform me immediately regardless of whether you have developed symptoms. I will then be able to notify anyone with whom I have been in contact following your date. In the event that I become unwell or aware that I may have been exposed through contact with another individual, I will also make you aware immediately.

SAFETY FIRST

Complete your pre-screening questionnaire here.

As cheesy as the saying is, it hits the nail on the head. The most important factor here is our safety, mine and yours and that of those we love. I hope that this policy reassures all of my clients that I am taking every precaution to protect them, my family and my future clients.

Until we see the end to COVID-19, let’s work together to be as safe as possible and not let anything put a downer on your super special day.

Thank you so much for your cooperation and understanding. I can’t wait to see you very soon!
